UPDATE: The temperature in White Plains reached 97, beating previous record of 94 for today's date in 1975.
It will feel like 100 to 110 degrees again today! Please take frequent breaks in an air-conditioned environment and drink plenty of water!
NWS ALERTS: Extreme Heat Warning is posted through 8 p.m. this evening. While Wednesday may fall short of criteria for this warning, it can still feel like near 100 degrees and at least a "heat advisory" may be issued. On top of this, an "air quality alert" is in effect until 11 p.m. due to elevated ground level ozone. This is the type of air quality alert we are most accustomed to on these very hot and humid days.
The uncomfortable news is that today is going to be exactly like yesterday. The good news is that once we get through today and tomorrow, it will feel much better outside! Please continue to stay heat smart. News 12 continues to provide you with heat safety tips every few minutes on-air. You can also find multiple heat-related stories on the home page of our website and free APP to help keep you, your family and your pets safe during this first extremely hot stretch of 2025 that will become an official heat wave by tomorrow afternoon.
New record high temperatures were set yesterday and the same is likely to happen today. It will be a closer call on a new record for tomorrow, but highs will still top the 90s through Wednesday.
In terms of rain chances, there is a very small chance of a pop-up shower today, but most of the Hudson Valley stays dry. There is a better chance for a widely scattered shower or isolated thunderstorm tomorrow afternoon and evening. Thursday though, will feature our best chance for a few showers and an isolated thunderstorm this week. Thursday will also bring some relief with high temperatures in the 70s.
Friday will be another cooler day with temperatures in the 70s before highs warm up through the 80s again this weekend.
Each day tomorrow through Sunday can have at least a few spotty showers.
Have a great Tuesday and please stay safe in this heat!
