Hispanic vote plays huge role in local and national races
The Hispanic vote is having a huge effect on both the presidential race and races across the Hudson Valley.
Parts of Westchester County, like Port Chester and Peekskill, have a large percentage of Hispanic residents.
This a huge year for Hispanic voters nationwide with a record-breaking 32 million Hispanics projected to have voted this year.
This makes up just over 13% of all eligible voters in the U.S. even exceeding the number of Black voters in a presidential election. Voters shared with News 12 what they believe should be priorities for the next president, including immigration and racism. "It's a big problem in this country, it's got the whole nation divided. We need to be reunited again as one country that we are," says Jose Lopez, of Port Chester.
