A man in his early 20s was shot to death Friday night during a home invasion in Throgs Neck, police say.
Authorities say at around 10 p.m. they responded to a call about a man shot in the chest at an apartment building on Dewey Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they found several suspects inside one of the units. Police say the alleged robbers invaded the residence and demanded cash and property.
The victim was identified as Christopher Umpierre. Police say he was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Umpierre apparently did not live in the apartment that was burglarized. According to authorities, he resided about two minutes away, on Swinton Avenue.
So far, no arrests have been made in the case.
