Dozens of hopeful homeowners in Rockland are one step closer to their big purchase after graduating from the First Home Club, an organization that helps get people out of debt and prepare to buy a home.

Members of the Rockland-based club pay a fee and attend class for 10 months, where they receive help from financial and real estate experts on how to improve their credit and get on the right track to ownership.

Graduates say their credit scores have jumped as much as 240 points in some cases and others are now debt-free as a result of the class.
