More pets go missing on the Fourth of July than any other time of the year, according to Pet Amber Alert.
This makes it especially important to be prepared for the upcoming celebrations.
Some tips include not letting your dog out unsupervised, double leashing (a leash on their collar along with a harness) and avoiding any locations where fireworks may appear.
Nicole Rigger, creator of Pets a Go Go dog day care center in Westchester, also advises pet owners to seek help from the professionals.
"Talk to your vet too, that's a big thing upfront. Don't wait until [July 3] to sort of try something out,” says Rigger.
