A Hudson Valley 6-year-old with leukemia was selected as one of 12 children across the country to visit a major theme park in Orlando.

The selection was part of the Subaru Week of Wishes program in partnership with Make-A-Wish.

People at Bill Kolb Jr. Subaru in Orangeburg and Make-A-Wish Hudson Valley surprised Elijah with the news of the life-changing trip this week.

When Elijah and his parents went to the car dealer, he thought he was there to look at vehicles with his family. Once they arrived, he was met with a surprise party to celebrate the granting of his wish and gifts for the upcoming trip.

Approximately 27,000 children are diagnosed with a life-threatening medical conditions each year, according to Make-A-Wish.
