Port Jervis school officials say rumors of a Columbine-style attack planned for tomorrow have prompted them to bring extra police and extra security onto both the middle and high school campuses today.
Police say rumors spread via text messages in recent weeks suggest that guns might be planted somewhere on one of the campuses tomorrow, the anniversary of the Columbine attacks.
District officials have dismissed the rumors, saying that the extra security is simply a precaution.
No guns have been found on either campus so far. The extra police and security will remain at the schools throughout the week.
