A man from Illinois has been arrested and charged after a stabbing at a substance abuse recovery facility in Yorktown, police said.

Yorktown police say the incident happened last Thursday at a facility on Underhill Avenue.

Officers responding to the scene found a victim with what appeared to be a stab wound to the left shoulder. The injured person was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Police say a 23‑year‑old man from Illinois was arrested in connection with the incident.

He has been charged with second‑degree assault.

Authorities say the suspect is scheduled to return to court on June 4.

The investigation remains ongoing.
