Want to buy a new car? Better get in line.
A lack of inventory of new
cars is making them hard to
get, sending the number of sales down in
the auto industry.
Pandemic shutdowns plus a
global computer chip shortage have led to low inventory at dealerships for new
and even used cars.
That lack of inventory is
leading to lower sales, which is hurting the bottom line of many dealerships
around the world and in the Hudson Valley. "We're seeing a dip in
sales just because we can't produce enough to meet customer satisfaction so
it’s not that there isn't demand, it is that the supply isn't there to keep up with where
we normally do," says Jay Sarasky, of Gregoris Suburu.
Dealers say if you want a
new car you can order one from the factory,
but it could take several months for
delivery.
