West Haverstraw home damaged after garage collapses in fire

A home in West Haverstraw was seriously damaged in a fire early Sunday morning.

The fire chief said crews were called to East Railroad Avenue where the garage and back of the house were fully engulfed.

The garage later collapsed. Crews remained on scene until dawn.

Neighbors said they were startled by the size of the flames.

The house was not occupied, and no injuries were reported.
