A car was engulfed in flames Tuesday morning on the Cross County Parkway in Yonkers, near the Target and Cross County Shopping Center.

The fire broke out in the westbound lane just after 10:30 a.m.

The man behind the wheel told News 12 another driver alerted him to the fire.

He pulled over and escaped the car minutes before it went up in flames.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the fire.
