A neighborhood in Trumbull is lighting the way for Santa’s sleigh.
One hundred houses in the Sterling Road area make up a mile-long stretch known as Santa's Runway.
"I think it’s a great thing," Linda Biancardi, of New Milford says. "I think it lifts everybody’s spirits to see all of this."
Co-founder and retired Bridgeport firefighter Zoli Szabo (Say-Beau) says the tradition started during COVID, and since 2020, it's ballooned into a holiday event bringing people in from all over the Northeast.
"We did it for the neighborhood," Szabo says. "It's expanded to places where we have people coming from out of state now."
Over the last three years, Santa's Runway has raised more than $15,000 for Trumbull social services.
"Money raised for the senior center and the food pantry in town," Szabo says. "It goes to our families in town who are in-need."
Visiting the runway is free, and they gladly accept donations.
