A well-balanced diet is a cookie in both hands.

That’s the motto the staff at Cookies N’ Cream in Bronxville live by, serving an abundant number of sweets to people all throughout Westchester County.

"I've always been a foodie," said Joseph Edwards, owner of Cookies N' Cream. "I've always loved food. I come from an Italian background, always helping my mom in the kitchen. [and] making Italian delicacies...So, I have a love for cooking and baking."

As a native of the Eastchester/Bronxville area, Edwards wanted to bring a taste of the sweet life to his hometown, but the road to get there was not always easy.

"We had opened up in June the year of COVID," he explained. "So it was very challenging."

After months of being stuck inside the house, however, the shop’s opening was a warm welcome for residents.

"We were very busy from day one," Edwards said. "The community welcomed us with open arms and it was a gangbusters ever since."

Four years later, Edwards continues to come up with a mix of classic and out-of-the-box recipes that keep guests coming back for more.

"I hired two CIA trained chefs from the Culinary Institute of America," he said. "We came up with 25 core patented cookie recipes incorporated with homemade ice cream...Our most popular cookies are the iconic Outrageous Chocolate Chip Cookie, our Cookies and Cream Cookie, our Stuffed Nutella and our Stuffed Churro Cookie."

As for the future, Edwards has lots of secret ideas up his sleeve.

"You always want to give your customers something new and exciting," he hinted. "So, we're always looking to incorporate something to the next level."

The original Cookies N' Cream location is at 10 Park Place in Bronxville, with Edwards working on franchising the business to other areas. Another Westchester location recently opened at the Cross County Center in Yonkers. The shop has also expanded to outside of the Hudson Valley, with one opening at 64-62 Dry Harbor Road in Queens.

In the near future, Edwards said he plans to open another location in Nanuet and northern New Jersey.
