Many in Hudson Valley's African-American community celebrated Barack Obama's historic win by rejoicing at church Sunday.
At Grace Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, the celebration was punctuated with a sermon by the Rev. Al Sharpton, who mounted a campaign for president in 2004.
Parishioners also chanted an African-American spiritual with a twist to celebrate the new president-elect, singing "Obama row the boat ashore, hallelujah."
The parishioners say Obama's election has touched people from all races, ages and backgrounds. They say for them, the message of hope is loud and clear.
