A Mount Vernon city employee was seriously injured Tuesday morning while trimming trees near the intersection of 5th Avenue and 5th Street, according to city officials.

The incident happened around 9:45 a.m. Emergency crews responded quickly, and the worker was taken from the scene for medical treatment.

An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the accident. The city is cooperating with all relevant agencies, officials said.
