The community gathered at the Nepperhan Community Center in Yonkers for an annual breakfast that honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
This year's breakfast was sponsored by Mayor Mike Spano and Jadakiss' family coffee company, Kiss Cafe.
The event centered around fellowship, prayer, music and unity.
Rev. Dr. Nigel Cole served as the guest speaker and spoke about the civil rights leader's influence.
He called Dr. King his “hero.”
"He met all of the hallmarks for sacrifice for the cause of civil rights. He was on the forefront. He protested," Cole said.
