Nearly one week after a fire destroyed its home, a New City family is continuing to try to get back on its feet.
All six people who lived in the house managed to escape, including one person who was wheelchair-bound.
The family says it is thankful to be alive and grateful for the outpouring of support after it lost everything.
Family members say they are still searching for a permanent place to stay that is wheelchair-accessible.
A fundraiser for the family will be held at the Shamrock Hotel and Bar in Suffern on Nov. 18 at 8 p.m.
