An open house tour of several homes up for auction was held in Newburgh Friday as a part of the city's revitalization plan.
Officials say dilapidated homes like the one at 36 Dubois St., with holes in the walls and rotting food everywhere, are full of possibilities for buyers.
"It takes a special person to really see the vision and what can become of these properties," says Courtney Kain, of the Planning and Development Department.
There are 100 buildings up for sale or sealed bid. Officials say although the properties are located in rough neighborhoods, rehabilitating them is a necessary step on the path to revitalization.
