Police in Newburgh are investigating a series of robberies and assaults being committed by teens.
Residents have been on edge since the recent spike in crime. Police say kids ranging in ages 13 to 17 have been "bum rushing" people walking down the streets and robbing them of their cash, cell phones and jewelry. Some robberies have occurred in broad daylight and several victims were assaulted.
Many residents say the increase in crimes by juveniles is because there is not enough activities for teens. However, the coordinator of the Youth Program in Newburgh says there are activities for kids, but getting them off the streets and interested in the program is the challenge.
