No good outcomes is how the police chief in the Village of Mamaroneck describes the findings in that deadly crash from June 20.
The driver of the mini school bus, Edward Jones was turning on to Mamaroneck Avenue from New Street when he hit and killed 6-year-old Michael and his mom, Molly Donovan, according to police.
Investigators believe Jones could have been distracted because of a passing ambulance and pedestrians who had already crossed in front of him. He did have a green light, according to the police report.
Police claim as Molly and Michael were entering the crosswalk, the walk signal had turned into a flashing red "don't walk" symbol.
Officer believe a mix of those factors led to the tragic accident.
"A turn going on to an area with a crosswalk, I thought justice would be served, especially given the outcome," says Mamaroneck resident Nick.
"It's tragic and you wouldn't want that to happen to anybody, your child but accidents happen," says Lori, who frequently drives through Mamaroneck.
Michael's father is not happy about the outcome of the investigation, according to police.
News 12 reached out to the bus driver involved. He says it's a sad situation but he can't comment on the matter without consulting with his lawyer.
