The blizzard that swept the city on Monday left a trail of broken trees across the city.

In Park Slope, a large tree came down on Berkeley Place between 6th and 7th avenues, under the weight of the snow.

“All of a sudden I heard a crack and a big plume of snow like an avalanche,” said Marcy McAvoy, who lives in front of where the tree fell.

Branches struck a house across the street, breaking a window.

The trunk landed on a blue Toyota Prius parked along the curb, completely crushing the vehicle.

News 12 tracked down the owners and delivered the bad news.

“Flabbergasted,” said Stoddard Blackall who owns the car with his wife Caitlin Murphy.

“It’s very upsetting,” said Murphy. “This is our only family car.”

Neighbors described the tree as decades old and said they made efforts to preserve it.

“We had arborists out to give it vitamins and everything because we knew it was so old,” McAvoy said. “Unfortunately, it just hadn’t been trimmed by the city in a long time. And the snow got to it.”

No injuries were reported.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said Tuesday that the city had received more than 1,800 reports of fallen trees and downed limbs citywide. He said an interagency downed trees task force, coordinated by the Parks Department, is responding to the damage.

Parks Department crews cleared the debris on Berkley Place on Tuesday.
