Police are investigating a stabbing in Canarsie Sunday that left a 47-year-old woman dead and a 15-year-old injured.
Officers say they responded to a domestic call at 942 East 81st St., where they found a 47-year-old woman suffering from multiple stab wounds to her torso and a 15-year-old with slash wounds to the hands.
The woman, who died at the a hospital, has been identified by police as Antoinette Stewart-Gordon.
Sources tell News 12 that she was the mother of the 15-year-old victim.
Police say the 15-year-old is in stable condition.
Council member Mercedes Narcisse says they are working to contact the victims' sister in Jamaica and get mental help for the child.
"Whatever help we can provide to help the family stay together. I spoke with an officer from the 69th Precinct - they are on the case - they will follow up with me to see how we can support that young man. He is only 15 years old," she said.
She also is highlighting the resources available for domestic violence in her district, urging those who feel in danger to contact Safe Horizon and Met Council, both operating in Canarsie.
"Mental health has to be addressed because we cannot afford not to address," she said. Police are not sharing information about a suspect, and say so far, no arrests have been made.
