The feud between police unions and City Hall is not over, despite a meeting with NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton.
Bratton said the meeting Wednesday included a discussion over concerns about officers' safety, morale and activity levels.
Afterward, union officials released a statement saying, "We don't believe that there is a willingness on the part of City Hall to solve these problems, so we as union leaders will take the time to sit down and discuss these issues and come up with solutions to them."
Meanwhile, Mayor Bill de Blasio, who did not attend the meeting, is facing continued criticism over his relationship with the city's police officers. This time, Republican leader of the state Senate Dean Skelos called on de Blasio to be "more sensitive" when it comes to speaking about the NYPD.
PBA President Pat Lynch also spoke about tensions with the mayor. "He supported those demonstrators, demonstrators that were calling for the death of cops that created the atmosphere that New York City cops have to work in now." Lynch added, "It's a dangerous atmosphere. We don't want any more cops shot. We need to come together, but we need a mayor to lead us there."
