A fire damaged a home and injured firefighters in Mount Vernon Monday morning.

It happened around 9 a.m. on Washington Street.

Fire officials say it started in the back of the house and worked its way to the attic.

News 12 was told three firefighters were hurt battling the flames, but no residents were injured.
