In light of the recent deadly tornado outbreaks in the Midwest that have left hundreds dead, officials in Orange County are getting prepared for possible natural disasters that may happen here.
Officials with the National Weather Service have designated Orange County as "Storm Ready," meaning emergency officials are prepared for any type of storm.
The Hudson Valley is not immune from tornadoes, according to the weather service. Two weak tornadoes have struck the region since 2008. But just because strong tornadoes are more common in the Plains regions of the U.S., officials say it doesn?t mean that a strong tornado can?t strike a populated area such as the Hudson Valley.
