The CEO of the Orange County Industrial Development Agency is responding to corruption allegations that prompted a Senate committee probe into their tax break practices and IDAs around the state.
Bill Fioravanti says the agency is already overseen by the state comptroller and has incentivized new business in Orange County that generates tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue each year.
Sen. James Skoufis recently announced the probe after he says the IDA gave millions of dollars in property tax breaks to Milmar Foods in Goshen, which he claims would have expanded without the incentives.
“Frankly, we just don’t operate the way he does, the way he wants us to," said Fiorvanti. "He wants us to do certain deals and not others, and we are doing the best we possibly can for Orange County. Trying to bring quality jobs and quality employers to secure the future of Orange County for generations.”
Fiorvanti says the new IDA board is staffed by volunteers whose main goal is securing investments, jobs and tax revenue for Orange County.
