The Orangetown Police Department took part in the National Night Out Tuesday to keep kids and the community on the right track.
"It's a nationwide initiative to get people out in their communities," says Jim Brown, of the Orangetown Police Department. "It's mostly a crime reduction, neighborhood watch, anti-drug type of thing."
Orangetown is holding its first National Night Out event, complete with skateboard ramps in the parking lot of Tappan Zee High School.
The New York National Guard was also on hand.
National Night Out is in its 25th year.
