One person is dead and several others are injured following a head-on crash in Orange County Saturday evening, state police say.

State police say Helen Rivera of Newburgh was driving southbound on Route 32 south of Cornwall when she crossed into the northbound lane.

They say she struck a Dodge Journey, which had nine people inside.

Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene and the nine occupants of the other vehicle, including a young child, were transported to hospitals.

Police say the collision happened around 8:30 p.m. causing Route 32 to be closed until 12 a.m.

Cornwall and New York State Police are investigating the incident.
