A 71-year-old Fort Lee man accused of abusing a child for several years was arrested on Thursday.

Authorities say Teaneck officers provided a tip about Manuel Barrantes to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit last week.

Barrantes has been charged with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.

The offenses occurred from 2016 to 2018, according to police.

The relationship between him and the victim is unclear.

He is being held in jail pending a court appearance.
