Yonkers police have identified the suspect arrested and charged for allegedly slashing three people outside a Dunkin'.

It happened Thursday afternoon near the restaurant on Palisade Avenue.

Police officials say 35-year-old Eric Ali allegedly slashed three men with a broken pair of scissors, slashing person on the side of the head, another on his face and lip and the third on the right side of the head. All three victims were hospitalized and are now in stable condition.

Ali was taken into custody at the scene after investigators reviewed surveillance footage and identified him as the suspect. The weapon was also recovered on his person.

Mayor Mike Spano released a statement saying in part, "These isolated incidents have certainly increased public concern this week, but I want to remind residents that our Yonkers Police Department has handled these incidents with skilled training, care, and concern."

This was the fourth violent incident reported in the city this week.

There was a total of three shootings in just a 24-hour span beginning on Monday.

On Wednesday, there was also a car chase involving police officers that resulted in multiple hospitalizations.

Despite the recent unconnected incidents, the Yonkers Police Department tells News 12 that people should not worry because there is not a crime spike in the city.

They say homicides are down 37% compared to 2022 and shootings are down 17%.

Police also touted their response times, which they credit to their AWARE room technology and precinct annexes.

“Again, every second counts in a situation like this, people were already injured,” says Yonkers Police Commissioner Christopher Sapienza. “The difference between two, three, five minutes would have meant many more victims.”
