Three shooting incidents within three days are under investigation in Mount Vernon. There's also new details about an assault that happened Tuesday afternoon.

The alleged assault happened near the corner of Park and Prospect avenues.

One person went to the hospital, according to police.

"The people are tired, the community is tired," says Jesse Van Lew, with Save Mount Vernon.

Van Lew is fed up with the crime in Mount Vernon.

On Monday afternoon, an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg at the basketball courts at South 7th Avenue and West 4th Street, according to officials with the city.

He was treated and released from the hospital.

Over the weekend, there were two other shooting incidents.

One of those left two people hurt.

"I just hope the people who are out here engaging in this type of behavior, cut it out," says Mount Vernon resident Kiki Whitted.

There's still no word on what sparked the assault Tuesday or the condition of the person who was sent to the hospital.
