A 37-year-old man is recovering after police said he was assaulted by a group of people in Mott Haven.
It happened around 1 a.m. on Monday near East 149th Street and Brook Avenue.
Police said the victim suffered head trauma and is stable at Lincoln Hospital.
One witness, who asked not to be identified, said it all started with a fender bender.
“One car was stuck at the [traffic] light, and the other car was in the back, scratched it,” said the witness.
That witness said the crash caused three people in the first car to attack the victim in the second car and then drive off.
“Two guys and one girl came out and fought the other guy,” the witness said. “The other guy went on the floor.”
Surveillance video then shows an ambulance drive by the scene and appear to run over the victim.
Sources could not confirm if the ambulance actually hit the man.
“I think [the driver] did not see the [victim] because [the ambulance] was coming fast,” said the witness.
As of Monday night, police were still searching for the attackers.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
