The man police dubbed the bomb bandit was arrested after a two-week robbing rampage in Westchester.
Police say 47-year-old David Wayne Britton, of Croton-on-Hudson, robbed hotels, fast-food restaurants and a drug store with what appeared to be sticks of dynamite strapped to his chest. Police say an observant woman recognized Britton from a police sketch as he robbed a Duane Reade store in Hartsdale Friday. Police say Britton had a BB gun when they chased him down. He later told police that he used highway flares not dynamite to frighten store employees into turning over cash. Police say he was not carrying any flares when he was arrested.
Britton has served time in prison for robbery and weapons charges. In prison, Britton got involved in acting to try to reform his life. In May, Britton appeared on an episode of ?Law and Order.? Britton will now have to answer to robbery charges in Greenburgh, Hartsdale, Yonkers and Mount Pleasant.
