A Poughkeepsie woman has pleaded guilty to attempted arson after prosecutors say she tried to set fire to an occupied apartment building.
Niya Edelman, 28, admitted to attempted arson in connection with an incident that happened in April, according to the Dutchess County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said Edelman stuffed mail under a door on South Hamilton Street and then set it on fire, knowing people were inside the building.
The fire damaged the wall and entryway of the apartment building.
Edelman faces up to six years in prison when she is sentenced.
