Proposed plans for a new Lidl in Yonkers were the major topic at a board meeting on Wednesday.
The board is considering a proposal to turn Central Plaza Shopping Center off Central Park Avenue into a location for the grocery giant.
"Neighbors may not know this is happening and I'd like the opportunity to notify folks,” said Councilman Anthony Merante.
Board members expressed concern for neighbors behind the building about the sounds and visuals of early morning deliveries. Project representatives told News 12 trucks would turn off during unloading, the bulk of trash is removed with deliveries and there will just be one trash removal time instead of several now for multiple tenants.
The Yonkers Board chair says the city and project engineers have to work together to fix some of the board's concerns.
The project will be discussed again at the board's September meeting.
For the project to move forward, the board would have to approve a special use permit which would need final approval from the City Council.
