While you may have noticed a
dip in gas prices, gas tracking tech company Gas Buddy doesn't think that
decrease will last.
It is predicting the
national average will rise to $3.41 a gallon.
That's up from the current
average across the country at $3.02.
It is basing its forecast on
low oil production from OPEC and refinery closures due to COVID. "We could see a national average that flirts with, or
in a worst-case scenario, potentially exceeds $4 a gallon," said Patrick
De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Locally, AAA says the average in Westchester
County for a gallon of regular is $3.68.
In Rockland, it is $3.66 and in Dutchess it is $3.52.
Those are all above the New York State average, which is
$3.49.
