Residents in the Hudson Valley continue to dig deeper into their pockets for gasoline, but there are some places where you can fill up for $4 a gallon.
Gas prices are hitting record highs almost daily, putting a financial strain on millions of Americans.
As of Thursday, gas prices again reached a new national peak, with an average of $4.33 a gallon.
The price for regular in New York is up to $4.47 -- that's lower than parts of the Hudson Valley where the average price is $4.55.
These soaring gas prices are having a very real impact on household budgets. According to one Wall Street estimate, a typical family may incur additional costs of $2,000 this year simply due to the higher cost of gas.
At the Fuelco station in Valhalla as of Friday morning, the station is selling gasoline for $3.89, but only if you have the Fuelco app. For those of who don't have the app, the cost will stay at $4.17.
The app can be downloaded from the company’s website. You simply put in your email, a credit card to pay for the gas and you're good to go. Station staff will even help you if you're not tech-savvy.
"It takes less than 30 seconds to download and it's free. It's connected to both locations," says Valhalla Fuelco station owner Jeannine Eljamal.
The owners say they have access to an American gasoline supplier, so the gas they're selling is American-made.
"Because it's an American brand, it doesn't have any connection to foreign conflict like a lot of these other brands do. So, we're able to pass those savings on to the customer and they benefit at the pump," says owner Adam Musa.
The owners say this is not a one-day deal, as they plan on keeping the low price for as long as they can.
