A Purchase teen is helping thousands of high school students connect with internships and contribute to worthy causes.
Ellie Zimmerman launched Interns4Good.com back in 2018 after she struggled to find a summer internship of her own.
The now-high school senior says interest in the nonprofit exploded during the pandemic - with more than 10,000 students worldwide volunteering with 180 nonprofits.
The tech savvy Gen Z interns are taking on digital roles in website design, coding, Google Analytics and social media.
"You gain professional skills that you wouldn't necessarily have an opportunity to do as a young person in a job setting and you can find what you are passionate about," says Zimmerman.
Interns4Good also has a social justice goal - allowing interns to give back to worthy causes such as Black Lives Matter groups, while also developing their professional skills.
