Housing sales in the Hudson Valley are still red hot, according to reports from the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors.
Realtors noticed the pandemic made city residents move away from the boroughs towards more rural areas like Sullivan and Putnam counties, with more space getting a bigger bang for their buck.
"If they knew there were going to be remote almost indefinitely, then it didn't really matter where they lived. They can actually get more bang for their buck and more of a lifestyle a little further out there," says Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors' Crystal Hawkins-Syska.
Since 2020, house sales in Westchester are up nearly 60% with median home prices up 17% to $835,000.
Similar statistics can be found in Orange, Rockland, Putnam and Sullivan counties.
Some people are opting to rent an apartment after selling their home until the market becomes more favorable for buyers.
