Rep. George Santos (R-NY) is denying new allegations against him that he stole money intended for a sick dog that belonged to a homeless veteran.
Santos wrote on Twitter, “The reports that I would let a dog die is shocking and insane. My work in animal advocacy was the labor of love and hard work.”
Navy veteran Richard Ostoff, of Howell, claims that Santos took $3,000 raised in a 2016 GoFundMe. His service dog Sapphire needed surgery to remove a stomach tumor. The dog later died.
Santos allegedly used the name “Anthony Devolder” to set up the GoFundMe through a charity that never existed.
This is just one of several situations coming to light since Santos was elected to Congress in 2022. There have been revelations that Santos lied about his biography and resume – a fact that he has admitted.
Newly uncovered immigration records for Santos’ mother contradict the claim that she was a survivor of the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attack at the World Trade Center.
Santos made these claims on the “Voice of Reason with Andy Hooser” podcast.
“My mom was a 9/11 survivor. She was in the South Tower, and she made it out. She got caught up in the ash cloud. My mom fought cancer until her death,” Santos said.
But immigration records state that Santos’ mother was in Brazil between 1999 and early 2003.
Santos is currently under investigation by the House for some of the allegations that have come to light.
