Residents make emotional return to Lahaina burn zone

The Aug. 8 Hawaiian wildfire killed at least 97 people and destroyed more than 2,000 buildings, most of them homes. Some survivors jumped over a sea wall and sheltered in the waves as hot black smoke blotted out the sun.

Tawni Katayama held onto her 84-year-old grandmother Noreen Wales as they walked through their Kaniau Road home.

Four generations of their family lived in the Lahaina home. It was completely destroyed in August during a devastating wildfire.

"Right now it just looks – it looks weird, looks like a horror movie," said Katayama.
