A Clarkstown park that received a makeover to ensure safety has reopened.
Town officials held a ribbon-cutting Wednesday for the reopening of the park's playground.
News 12 is told the playground was closed temporarily to install a new rubber safety surface.
The change is a part of a mission to upgrade playgrounds and equipment throughout the town.
"We are celebrating the fact that there's a new playground surface with more accessibility and upgrades to this park,” says Town Supervisor George Hoehmann. “Really looking forward to things coming down the road"
Future plans include groundbreaking for a new amphitheater and a new playground at Gilcrest Park.
