Road Trip: Close to Home - Enders State Forest in Granby offers peaceful hiking trail and sightseeing

Enders State Forest in Granby, Connecticut is one of the 33 state forests that combines recreation and preservation.
The forest is about 2,000 acres. It was virtually cut down by the end of the 1800s, but it is now completely grown back. 
The Christmas fern can be found at Enders, which is one of the only evergreen ferns found in Connecticut's landscape. 
Hikers can enjoy a walk to the waterfall and view beautiful rock formations. A new walkway has been created to ensure the nature walk is safe for all ages to enjoy.
At this time of the year, icicles can be seen forming on the falls.
The forest is also a great place for birdwatching observing different wildlife. Forest management promotes recreational opportunities wildlife habitat and biodiversity
