With boating season in full swing, the Rockland County Sheriff's Marine Unit hit the Hudson River today to patrol the waters and ensure safety.
Officials say before taking a boat out on the water, it's important to make sure that all the required safety equipment, including life vests, distress flares and a fire extinguisher, are present on board.
The unit is also urging boaters to act responsibly and avoid drinking alcohol when on the water.
New York State Park Police will be patrolling the Hudson River this weekend in search of intoxicated boaters as part of operation "Dry Water."
