A Rockland County man is sharing a message of faith through a new children’s book inspired by his so's birth.

Fairoze Edoo, of Stony Point, wrote “The Day God Sent Me to You” earlier this year and was officially released recently online.

Edoo began work on the book when he was out of work from the NYPD due to an eye issue.

He wanted to create a children’s book with deeper meaning without tying the story to any single religion because Edoo is Muslim and his wife is Catholic, so he wanted this book to be inclusive.

“The book was inspired to be more of getting in touch with your faith,” Edoo said. “No matter what God you think of or what you believe in.”

The story does revolve around one character, his son Riley, who was born in 2021. Edoo says Riley was a miracle from God.

“We did IVF three times and it did not work,” Edoo said. “We kept trying and trying and trying. And God sent him down to us — and that’s what this book is about.”

According to a 2023 Pew Research Center report, 42% of Americans have either undergone IVF treatments themselves or know someone who has.

For those still trying to have a child, Edoo offers words of encouragement.

“It’ll break your heart a bunch of times,” he said. “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.”

Edoo says the book has already sold 70 copies. He is now working on the next book in the series.
