A taxi driver in Rockland County is recovering after an assault and robbery.

Spring Valley police say it happened on Saturday near Hoffman and West Church streets.

Police say that is when a rider tried to pay with a fraudulent bill.

The rider then grabbed the cab driver’s purse and assaulted her.

Police say the driver suffered a head injury.

Malinda Sheffield, 65, is now charged with assault and grand larceny.
