Rockland County, which is facing a firefighter shortage, is now doing all it can to prepare the future generation for service.
The Rockland County Fire Training Center's 50-hour program allows 12- to 16-year-olds to train how to put out fires, perform CPR and ride in ambulances. The program began last month.
After students have completed the program and graduate, they can go and become firefighters in their local community.
