A Rockland County Transportation Department employee was arraigned Monday on drunk driving charges in New City.
Michael Prendergast, 53, turned in his license at the hearing. He's charged with felony DWI in a February 17 incident. Authorities say Prendergast rear-ended a vehicle, causing it to flip over. The two people inside were transported to Nyack Hospital, as was Prendergast. Officials say Prendergast refused to take a Breathalyzer test at the hospital. He faces felony charges because he already has a DWI conviction within the past 10 years.
Prendergast works as a transit marketing coordinator and makes close to $90,000. Rockland County officials had no comment at the arraignment, nor did the defense attorney. Prendergast is due back in court June 25.
