A temporary arrangement between Nyack Hospital and a local high school aims to ensure patients receive their meals after flooding from last week's storm destroyed the hospital's kitchen.
Three times a day, the hospital's kitchen staff goes to Nyack High School to prepare meals. The meals are then transferred to the hospital inside insulated coolers and served right away to patients.
The arrangement has worked out perfectly since school is out for the summer.
Hospital officials say it will cost more than $400,000 to replace the damaged kitchen equipment. In addition, there will be construction costs, which have not yet been determined.
