Investigators are trying to pinpoint what sparked a fire at a multi-family home in Yonkers. It left seven people displaced, according to the Red Cross.
"It was a big flame like coming out of the window," says Yonkers resident Carlos Sanchez.
Sanchez just parked his car nearby when he witnessed the flames shooting out from the top of the house.
Then, he saw the first responders flood the streets.
"I saw a whole bunch of fire trucks and police cars," Sanchez explains.
It was a three-alarm fire.
There's still no word on what caused it.
However, a fire chief previously told News 12 that it looked like the fire started on the outside and made its way up.
"There's severe damage to the roof and the top floor, there's probably some major water damage to the first and second floors as well," said Chief Chris Canfield, with the Yonkers Fire Department.
Everyone made it out, including a cat that was rescued.
However, six firefighters have minor injuries.
The residents are now displaced.
"Our Red Cross disaster action team has registered two households, which is seven people for emergency assistance," says Stephanie Dunn Ashley, CEO of American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter.
